Running, Running, Running

The past couple months I got back into running, (after taking a couple years off) and decided to train for a half marathon September 29th. I love running! It's a wonderful stress release and gives me time to not think about anything. I went from hardly being able to run for 1 minute straight the middle of February, to running 5 miles in under an hour! Today I ran almost 6 miles. 14 minute run with a 1 min walk, and did that 4 times. I'm very happy with how my running is going. Hopefully I'll be able to feel good about what I see in the mirror one day.

  1. I had a friend telling me about this kind of running. She said you start running for 1 min, walking for 2. Then up it the further you can run. It sounds pretty awesome. Keep it up!

  2. I’m glad to hear running is going well for you! Just the simple act of running is an amazing feeling. You're a very motivated woman and it's awesome.

For me, I need to constantly remind myself where running should sit on the list of priorities –below God and relationships. It can easily turn into an idol and cause mood high’s & low’s if a run doesn’t go well or the day is too busy to fit a run in. The “Type A” side of me wants to determine how I feel for that day on how fast I ran or how many miles I got in that day, but it’s a great way to set myself up for failure and is quite displeasing God.

Daily, I need to remind myself that the ability to run and motivation to get out that door are gifts from God. He loves me no matter how many miles I run in a week or what pace I run at… it’s really a freeing love that He has, I don’t have to perform or be the best at anything to earn His love.

I always love to talk running and look forward to our next run together! God has put the passion to run in our hearts for a reason and I pray that we can glorify God in through that!

23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24

  3. First of all, thanks for the follow :) And secondly, I need to start running! It's so hard where I live, because it's sort of city-ish. There might be a track somewhere around here, though. I should look into it. And good for you, training for a half marathon. I always wanted to do something like that..
